After listening to the song and reading through the lyrics, I felt this song had a very deep meaning embedded in it. It shows us the world in reality, where everyone is fighting for himself, being self centered and wanting benefits from everything, not respecting each other, their races, their religions and their beliefs. The chorus has a particularly deep meaning -
People killing people dying
Children hurting you hear them screaming
Can you practice what you preach
Would you turn the other cheek
This summarises the world now. People are going out to war and killing each other for their selfish beliefs and "needs" without considering and putting themselves in the shoes of their "enemy". This in turn affects the younger children, as they are not mature enough to understand what is happening and feel fear with all the war and evil going on around them. People are all talking about making peace, but they are not looking at it as a whole but peace to themselves only, derived from the phrase "Can you practice what you preach". These people should look at themselves and see the situation as a whole and derive to a better solution, a win-win solution, in order to get peace.
Hi Aik Yang,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you regarding your stand regarding your interpretation of the song "Where is the love?" I feel that in the modern world, people are more self-centered and often place their own comfort over other people's interests. Children are also exposed to wars and the selfish interests and this affects their upbringing as they are not mature enough to understand what is happening. Hence, I feel that people need to find a solution quickly if we are to achieve peace in our society.
