My favourite part of the school campus

My favourite part of the school campus would be the clock tower. The clock tower tells the time and can be seen from almost any part of the school. It's significant "being" is really attractive and important. I would use the clock tower to tell the time. Also, I like to think about things and the clock tower is deeply associated with my "identity". With every passing minute, the minute hand moves a distance and a new thought appears in my mind. In front of the clock tower is an empty space, between the clock tower and the Tan Kah Kee statue. This space is where one can sit down, think about things. This space is significantly important in our busy lives, where there is seldom space for us to think, recollect and improve. In fact, without this space, our lives would be like a monotone, where the day's events are just the day's events. Thus, being one who likes to think, the clock tower is significant to me and deeply associated with my identity.

A minute accumulates to become an hour and an hour accumulates to become a day.

There's never enough time to do all the nothing you want ; but there's always time to do something simple which will carve a smile

The theme of my comic would be to spread the smile. Instead of having fun by yourself, why not do something to spread the smile?
Inspired by the quote "There's never enough time to do all the nothing I want" from Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson, the title of my comic is "There's never enough time to do all the nothing you want; but there's always time to do something simple which would carve a smile. The comic comes in two parts and I will explain the various reasons the comic is what it is.

In this first part (above), I show a character(in red) thinking about the various things he can in that day. He wishes to accomplish many of the things that he finds fun and interesting but only has one day, 24 hours or also known as 1440 minutes. It would not be plausible to accomplish all this "nothing" he wants to do. As the panels progress, we can see that the background changes from morning to night, to indicate the progress of time, and to stress that no matter the amount of things one wishes to accomplish in a day, the person cannot stop time from progressing.

In this second part (above), the main character again, is in red. This is done so mainly to differentiate the character from the surroundings. The character in this part visits the old folks' home. He entertains the old folks by chatting with them, accompanying them. To the simple-minded senior citizens, this is all enough to carve a smile on them. After all, they are lonely and wish for someone to visit them so they feel wanted. As shown in the last panel, the old folks are happy after a simple visit from the character. I use a light coloured background for the last panel, evoking the sense of simplicity and happiness.

Black Eyed Peas - Where is the love?

After listening to the song and reading through the lyrics, I felt this song had a very deep meaning embedded in it. It shows us the world in reality, where everyone is fighting for himself, being self centered and wanting benefits from everything, not respecting each other, their races, their religions and their beliefs. The chorus has a particularly deep meaning -
People killing people dying
Children hurting you hear them screaming
Can you practice what you preach
Would you turn the other cheek
This summarises the world now. People are going out to war and killing each other for their selfish beliefs and "needs" without considering and putting themselves in the shoes of their "enemy". This in turn affects the younger children, as they are not mature enough to understand what is happening and feel fear with all the war and evil going on around them. People are all talking about making peace, but they are not looking at it as a whole but peace to themselves only, derived from the phrase "Can you practice what you preach". These people should look at themselves and see the situation as a whole and derive to a better solution, a win-win solution, in order to get peace.

A movie that impacted my life..

A particular movie that I had watched which impacted my life would be Inception. Directed by Christopher Nolan, this movie has a very complicated idea of implanting or extracting ideas from a person as a dream. After watching the movie, it got me thinking: Is this the real world?
In the movie, the only way to get out of the dream is to wake up in the "real" life or die in the dream. If we associate this with our present lives, would it mean that after we die, we just wake up in a new world? After all, we would not know that we are in the dream when we are in it and could this be the actual "life after death"? Since we can't get information from the dead, this question would never receive a satisfactory and definite answer, at least in the next few decades.
This movie impacted my life in firstly doubting that there is "life" in the first place. Even if it were just a movie, the idea behind it is also partly logical that we may not be in the real world! Secondly, as this movie and the idea behind it has always been etched in my head after I watched it, I begin to relate things and situations to the idea of the movie, leading me to feel that everything has happened but never happened. I start to think twice before asking questions, asking myself if I had already asked that question, searching for an answer myself and ending up answering my own question even before asking it. Also, I begin to think more.
Even before watching the movie, I was already a very "thoughtful" person, thinking about things all the time. I would come up with my own "theories" and use logic to try and see if these theories could actually be true. After watching this movie, I would think even further and venture even to the most bizarre ideas, setting my mind to think even more.
I would say Inception is a movie that made my thinking more mature, impacting my life greatly.
